Gospel Reflection – December 8, 2025

Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. While the Gospel speaks about Jesus’ conception, we commemorate the conception of his mother, Mary. She was conceived without the stain of original sin and remained sinless her entire life.

Mary can help us move away from a sinful life and grow in holiness and virtue. Her example of pondering the Lord’s will and taking to heart his words is something we can all follow. When you are in need of spiritual guidance and grace, call upon the intercession of our Blessed Mother. She always comes to the aid of her children in need.

Saint of the Day

Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

“The doctrine which holds that the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved immune from every stain of original sin, has been revealed by God and therefore must be firmly and inviolably believed by all the faithful.”

Ineffabilis Deus, Pope Pius IX
