“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
Matthew 8:8
only say the word and my servant will be healed.”
Reflection
A centurion approaches Jesus, asking for his paralyzed servant to be healed. Jesus says he will come to the centurion’s house, but the centurion declines, saying that he is not worthy to have Jesus under his roof. Jesus only needs to say the word, and his servant will be healed. Jesus is amazed at the centurion’s faith.
We, too, are not worthy of Jesus. We are sinners and can never fully repay our debt to God. Yet Jesus desires to heal us, especially of our sins. Jesus wants to be welcomed into our hearts, where he can provide us true peace and healing.
When we let Christ in, he can work wonders, especially when we have an open mind and heart. While we are not worthy of this, we can thank God for his great mercy and love. Reflect on how you can repent of your sins and let Christ into your heart today.
