Gospel Reflection – November 29, 2025

Jesus tells his disciples to not let their hearts become drowsy from drink and anxiety, in case the second coming surprises them like a trap. He tells them to be vigilant at all times and pray for the strength to withstand the imminent tribulations that will come.

While we might not let our hearts become drowsy from drunkenness and carousing, we almost certainly let that occur from daily anxieties. Our worries can dominate both our hearts and minds, leading us to forget about what truly matters – Jesus.

If we forget to include Christ in our daily lives, then everything that makes us anxious and bothers us will carry us away, further and further from the peace and joy that only Jesus can provide. Our Lord tells us to be vigilant at all times. We can do this with the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides us always. Reflect on how you can give your anxieties of daily life to the Lord, and ask for the grace to keep yourself focused on him, even when life is difficult.

Saint of the Day

St. Clement: died AD 101

“Wherefore let us give up vain and fruitless cares, and approach to the glorious and venerable rule of our holy calling. Let us attend to what is good, pleasing, and acceptable in the sight of Him who formed us.”

Letter to the Corinthians, Pope St. Clement
