“See that you not be deceived,
luke 21:8
for many will come in my name, saying,
‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’”
Reflection
Jesus tells the people who are speaking about the temple’s adornments that the day will come when stone upon stone will be thrown down. They then ask for a sign for when this will take place, and Jesus says that nations will rise against each other, false individuals will come in Jesus’ name, and many awesome sights will come from the sky.
Jesus tells the people not to be deceived when others come in his name. Likewise, we must stick to following only Christ, and not be deceived by worldly ideas or people that pose to be good, but in fact might be be anti-Christian or against God. To do this, we can listen to the Church and her teachings.
Satan is always looking for ways to lead us astray, and there are many voices in our world that can do this. Ideologies that sound loving or Christian may not be, and so we must take care to learn and discern carefully. Ask the Holy Spirit to always guide you and help you see clearly, without being deceived.
