And one of them, realizing he had been healed,
luke 17:15-16
returned, glorifying God in a loud voice;
and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.
Reflection
As Jesus is traveling, he encounters ten lepers who cry out for mercy. Jesus tells them to show themselves to the priests, and on the way, they are healed. Only one of the ten returns to Jesus, glorifying God.
How many times have we been healed of something – emotionally, physically, spiritually – and not thanked God? Do we continue to go about our daily lives, forgetting to be grateful for that specific healing? Jesus wants to heal us, and indeed does, but sometimes we take that healing for granted and forget to thank the one who has healed us.
Jesus wants us to develop a personal relationship with him, and to do that, we must speak with him. This includes times when he heals us as well. Oftentimes, we forget to be grateful for something. When we practice thanksgiving, we grow in humility because we realize that without Christ, we can do nothing. How can you grow in gratitude today?
