Gospel Reflection – November 7, 2025

Jesus tells his disciples a parable about a dishonest steward. The steward is let go from his job, but before that occurs, he calls in his master’s debtors and acts prudently by securing his own future. Jesus tells the disciples that the children of this world are more prudent than the children of light.

In the parable, the rich man asks his steward, “What is this I hear about you?” In the context of the story, what the rich man has heard isn’t good. If we heard these words spoken to us, it might cause embarrassment and shame, knowing we had done something wrong. Jesus doesn’t necessarily say this to us, but when we have sinned and lapsed in living our faith appropriately, these words should remind us that we must repent and turn back to our Lord.

Too little do we reflect on our actions and take time to look interiorly. Sometimes it takes being called out to pause, reflect, and repent. Nobody is perfect, and we will always sin, but the key is to be aware and truly commit to living a virtuous life, asking for Christ’s help at all times. Today, reflect interiorly and ask Christ for forgiveness.
