Gospel Reflection – November 6, 2025

The scribes and Pharisees complain that Jesus welcomes sinners and eats with them. Jesus tells them the famous parable about a person leaving their ninety-nine sheep to go after their one lost sheep; the person will rejoice greatly once the sheep is found. Likewise, there will be more joy in heaven over one person who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people.

Jesus comes after each one of us when we become lost. He rejoices greatly when we are found and come back to the flock. When we repent of our sins, there is cause for celebration. We might not consider ourselves the one sheep that becomes lost – in fact, we might think we are the righteous person.

But even if we don’t sin as badly as someone else, we still lose our way many times, and are in need of rescuing. Christ always rejoices when we come back to him. Today, reflect on how you can better follow Jesus and let him be your true shepherd.
