Jesus went up to the mountain to pray,
luke 6:12
and he spent the night in prayer to God.
Reflection
Jesus prays alone on a mountain, and after he is finished, he chooses the Twelve Apostles. Jesus takes a prolonged period of prayer to make an important decision – who his closest disciples shall be.
He doesn’t make this decision in the spur of the moment, but rather takes it to his Father in prayer. We should follow Christ’s example when we have important decisions to make. Sometimes we make hasty decisions that have major consequences without taking the appropriate time to discern and pray about it. When we spend time praying with our Lord, he can give us insight and wisdom we may need.
Do you have any major decisions you need to make in your life? If so, take time today and pray thoughtfully and carefully about your choices. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in your decision.
