Gospel Reflection – October 24, 2025

Jesus tells the crowd they are hypocrites because they can accurately interpret the weather but not the present times. He also condemns them for not judging what is right themselves; they should settle an argument on the way to court, because if they don’t, they will be handed over to prison and not be released until the last penny is paid.

Sometimes we are very good at interpreting matters that pertain to earthly things, like the weather or the stock market. But we can fail to pay as close attention to our spiritual lives, which are much more important. If we are constantly looking outward, but not reflecting interiorly, then it makes sense we are not able to ‘interpret the present time.’

We all must spend more time praying with Jesus and listening to him. When we are in tune with his will for our lives, we can more accurately go about life with the correct mindset towards worldly matters. If we are unable to understand what God intends for us spiritually, we must make a greater effort at developing both our prayer life and relationship with him. Ask the Lord for the grace to be able to reflect interiorly with prudence and courage.
