Gospel Reflection – October 7, 2025

Jesus visits Martha and Mary. Martha complains to Jesus that her sister Mary is not helping her serve, but Jesus tells Martha that she is worried about many things; her sister Mary has chosen the better part.

Something we often overlook is that Martha welcomes Jesus. We always see her as the sister who is anxious and angry at Mary for not helping her serve. While this is an important aspect, we should remember that Martha obviously loves Jesus; she welcomes him into her home. She goes on to become preoccupied with less important things.

Many times, we also do the same. We welcome Jesus into our hearts, but become distracted other things we are doing. Jesus should always be the center of our lives, especially when we embrace him as our Savior. How can you continue to welcome Jesus into your heart?

Saint of the Day

Our Lady of the Rosary

Originally called Our Lady of Victory, this feast day was established by St. Pius V in honor of defeating the Turks at Lepanto. Pope Gregory XIII changed the name to the feast of the Holy Rosary.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!
