Jesus tells his disciples to pay attention to what he is telling them; that he will be handed over to men. They do not understand and are afraid to ask him about his declaration.

Many times, we don’t understand what Jesus is telling us. We are confused what he is asking of us or even afraid, because we know that what is being asked will require sacrifice, courage, and suffering. The disciples didn’t understand and didn’t ask, but we should strive to ask. The Lord wants us to follow his will and ask for clarity.

We can pray to the Holy Spirit to ask for understanding and inspiration so that we can better know what God’s will is for us. It is a good practice to take time and prayerfully discern the Lord’s voice in our lives. How can you do this today?

Saint of the Day

St. Vincent de Paul: 1581 – 1660

“If we divested ourselves, once and for all, of all self-will, we would then be in a position of being sure of doing the Will of God.”

St. Vincent de Paul
