Herod is hearing all about Jesus and is confused because some people say he is John the Baptist or Elijah. Herod knows it is not John, and so he keeps trying to see Jesus.

Herod’s desire to see Jesus is interesting because he doesn’t express any belief in our Lord, but rather curiosity. He was most likely concerned about a power shift in authority, if anything. Regardless, many people today are curious about Jesus. They are searching for meaning and purpose in life, and end up discovering Jesus.

If we know people in our lives who are curious about Jesus, we should encourage them to learn more. Introducing Christ to them can be as easy as being open about your faith and truly living a Christian lifestyle. Being Christ for others reveals his deep and abiding love, and can help bring many closer to him. How can you help quench someone’s curiosity for Jesus?

Saint of the Day

Sts. Louis and Zélie Martin: 1823 – 1894 and 1831 – 1877

“When I think of what God, in whom I’ve put all my trust and in whose hands I’ve put the care of my whole life, has done for me and my husband, I don’t doubt that His Divine Providence watches over His children with special care.”

Letter St. Zélie wrote to her brother
