He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey.”
luke 9:3
Reflection
Jesus gives the Twelve Apostles power to heal people and drive out demons. He sends them out to proclaim the kingdom of God, taking nothing with them.
Jesus instructs his disciples to literally take nothing for their evangelization journey. This probably took great trust that they would be provided for. Likewise, Jesus asks us to radically trust him every day. He will always provide whatever we need, ensuring we lack nothing.
We often worry about how a certain situation might turn out, if we will have enough of this or that. But Jesus encourages us not to worry; instead, to place our trust in him and let go of any anxiety. Just like the Twelve Apostles, we need only rely on Jesus, and all will be provided for. How can you increase your trust in Christ today?
