Gospel Reflection – September 5, 2025

The scribes and Pharisees complain to Jesus that his disciples eat and drink, while their disciples fast and offer prayers. Jesus tells them the wedding guests cannot fast when the bridegroom is with them.

While we do fast and offer prayers as followers of Jesus today, we can also rejoice abundantly. He is present with us in the Eucharist and is always by our side. Jesus wants us to have joy in him, never losing hope.

It is beautiful to reflect on us being wedding guests and Jesus as the bridegroom. When we attend weddings, they are celebrations full of joy and love; likewise, our lives can be the same when we have Christ in them. Today, ask Christ to show you true joy and peace.

Saint of the Day

St. Teresa of Calcutta: 1910 – 1997

“If you were to die today, what would others say about you? What was in you that was beautiful, that was Christlike, that helped others to pray better? Face yourself, with Jesus at your side, and do not be satisfied with just any answer.”

St. (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta
