“For every one who exalts himself will be humbled,
luke 14:11
but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Reflection
Jesus eats with one of the leading Pharisees and tells a parable about not sitting at the place of honor at a banquet. Instead, he tells them to take a lowly place; for those that exalt themselves will be humbled, and those that humble themselves will be exalted.
One of Jesus’ main teachings is humility. In this Gospel, he again tells us to humble ourselves in certain social situations, not put ourselves in places of honor. When we humble ourselves, we grow closer to Jesus and develop virtue and holiness. How can you practice humility today?
