“For men this is impossible,
matthew 19:26
but for God all things are possible.”
Reflection
Jesus tells the disciples that it will be difficult for people who are rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Peter then asks who can be saved and is told that for God, all things are possible. For those who give up family, lands, and houses in Jesus’ name, they will inherit eternal life. Many who are first will be last, and those who are last shall be first.
Without Jesus, it would be impossible to get to heaven. Jesus tells Peter that it is impossible for men to be saved on their own, but for God, all things are possible. Our sin separates us from God, but through Jesus Christ, we have a chance at redemption. God gives us a wonderful opportunity, his Son, to be reunited with him for eternity; we could not do it on our own.
When we give up those things that make us attached to the world for the sake of Christ’s name, Jesus tells us we inherit eternal life. If we are rich in possessions but not in holiness, it will be very difficult to enter heaven. Yet with Jesus in our lives, he can help us detach from those things and focus solely on him. If you think it is impossible to detach yourself from a particular object, hobby, person, etc., ask Jesus for the grace to center your life on him and prioritize your spiritual life so that you may grow in holiness.

“My soul doth magnify the admirable Heart of Jesus and Mary, and my spirit rejoices in my great Heart. Jesus and Mary have given me their Heart, this immense Heart in order that all in me May be performed in its love.”
