Gospel Reflection – August 15, 2025

Today is the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We celebrate her bodily assumption into heaven, where she is united with her Son forever. In the Gospel, we hear how Mary travels to her cousin Elizabeth’s house and then declares the Magnificat, her song of praise to God.

In this Gospel, it is noted that Mary traveled in haste. She went quickly to help her pregnant cousin. In the same way, Mary hastens to our aid daily. Whenever we cry out in prayer, she is at our side, comforting and interceding for us.

Today, thank Mary for her intercession in your life. She is constantly working to bring us closer to her Son, Jesus. She is our spiritual Mother and desires to be with us in heaven. She will never abandon you, for you are her precious child. Call on Mary at all your times of need, and she will hasten to your aid.

Saint of the Day

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
