“Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.”
matthew 14:17-18
Then he said, “Bring them here to me.”
Reflection
Today is the famous five loaves and two fish Gospel. Jesus feeds five thousand people with this small amount of food, and they even have leftovers. This Gospel is always nice to reflect upon because it reminds us of how Jesus can make a lot out of a little.
When we are worried about lacking in something, we must entrust the little we have to Christ. He takes what we do have and multiplies it in the way we need. When we entrust the different aspects of our lives to God – such as finances, careers, family issues – he makes rich and fruitful what is lacking.
He doesn’t want to send us away anxious and afraid. He wants us to turn to him for comfort and love. When we put our trust in him completely and stop worrying about what we don’t have, we become more free and become overjoyed when God grants us graces in the ways we need it most.

“When the heart is pure and simple, it cannot help loving, because it has discovered the source of love which is God.”
St. John Vianney
