Gospel Reflection – July 28, 2025

Jesus tells two parables to the people. One is about the kingdom of heaven being like a mustard seed, and the other is about the kingdom of heaven being like yeast mixed into bread.

Even with the smallest of objects, God can make something large and beautiful. He can do much with little, just like a tiny mustard seed or piece of yeast. When we struggle with growing in love, faith, and virtue, give what little you do have to the Lord. Ask him to increase it so that you can embody your full potential in this life through Christ.

Jesus works with us, no matter where we are. If our trust in him is as small as a mustard seed, he will help it grow larger by the day. He takes us at whatever level we are at, and through the Holy Spirit, leads us to a holier spiritual life. God can work wonders from nothing – believe that he can surely increase what you lack.

Saint of the Day

St. Innocent I: died AD 417

“For in proportion as the billows mount higher, and concealed reefs increase, and the hurricanes are many does your vigilance wax stronger…. But you continue to imitate the best class of pilots who are on the alert at those times most especially when they see the waves crested, the sea swelling, the water dashing vehemently, and the deepest darkness in day-time.”

Letter to Pope St. Innocent I from St. John Chrysostom
