Gospel Reflection – July 27, 2025

Jesus teaches the disciples the Our Father prayer. He also tells them that if they ask, they shall receive; if they seek, they shall find.

Sometimes we are scared to ask Jesus for something because we fear that our prayer might not be answered. Other times, we are afraid because it might not be answered in the way we want it to. This second reason reveals our lack of trust in the Lord. He tells us today that if we ask, we will receive, and if we seek, we will find.

Jesus doesn’t promise that our prayers will be answered according to our own wishes, but he does promise that they will be answered. It will just occur in the way he intends, not us. How can you place your trust in the Lord today? Don’t be afraid to ask something of him – he will give you all you need and more.

Saint of the Day

St. Pantaleon: AD 275 – 305

“The God whom I adore is Jesus Christ. He created heaven and earth, He raised the dead to life, made the blind see and healed the sick, all through the power of His word. Your idols are dead, they cannot do anything.”

St. Pantaleon
