Gospel Reflection – July 26, 2025

Jesus gives a parable about a man who sows good seed in his field, but overnight an enemy comes and sows weeds among the seed. When the crops grow, the man lets the weeds and wheat grow together until harvest time, when the wheat will be gathered in the barn and the weeds burned.

There are many enemies in the world at work against Christians and Christ himself. Society at large proposes many temptations that aim to lead us away from Jesus. Sometimes these temptations are obvious, other times not. We must realize that being a Catholic Christian will not always be easy because the Enemy, Satan, wants to lead us away from Christ at all costs.

Yet clearly the Lord allows for evil in the world to be present. It is our job to identify it and still keep our faith through all life’s difficult moments and temptations. Despite this, Jesus doesn’t leave us alone to fend off evil and the Enemy’s attacks. He is always by our side – we just have to listen and follow his will. Be strong in your faith, confident in your love for Christ, and steadfast in virtue. This is how we grow in holiness and make our way to the kingdom of heaven.

Saint of the Day

Sts. Joachim and Anne: ca. 1st century

St. Joachim and St. Anne were the parents of Mary. While they are not mentioned in the Bible, they are still honored. Today is the feast of grandparents, and we recognize the positive influences St. Joachim and St. Anne had on their daughter.

St. Joachim and St. Anne, pray for us!
