Gospel Reflection – May 28, 2025

Jesus tells his disciples that when the Holy Spirit comes to them, he will guide them to truth, not speaking on his own, but from what he hears from the Father and Jesus. The Holy Spirit will glorify Jesus in his work on earth.

The Holy Spirit guides us to all truth. He is here to lead us to the Truth, Jesus Christ. If we listen to the Holy Spirit, we will grow closer to him and our Lord. In a world where truth is now considered subjective, we can struggle to know what is true. When that struggle occurs, turn to the Holy Spirit and ask to be pointed in the right direction.

Jesus is the Truth, and we should always turn towards him when confusion arises. Yet sometimes we can be misled, and so the Holy Spirit is there to lead us appropriately. Truth is not something that changes with time, culture, or people. The Holy Spirit helps us understand that and reveals how truth brings us closer to God himself.

Reflect on how you let the Holy Spirit reveal truth to you. Do you listen or ignore it? Ask for the grace to always follow Christ, the Truth.

Saint of the Day

St. Paul Hanh: died 1859

St. Paul Hanh was a Vietnamese Christian who turned to a life of crime early on. Eventually, he renounced that lifestyle but was turned in by fellow gang members to the authorities. Paul was tortured but did not renounce his faith, and was martyred by beheading.

St. Paul, pray for us!
