Gospel Reflection – May 21, 2025

Jesus declares that he is the true vine, and God the Father is the vine grower. The Father prunes each branch appropriately so that it bears much fruit. Jesus tells his disciples to remain in him as the branches, for he is the vine, and with him, they can bear much fruit.

As our vine, Jesus provides us stability throughout our lives. If we cling to him, we are assured that he will guide us and help us bear much fruit for the kingdom. Even when we must be ‘pruned’ – of attachment to sin, material objects, money, social media, food, etc. – it is for our own good and Jesus will not cut us off from him.

Jesus cuts away every unnecessary thing, allowing us to blossom as true sons and daughters of God. If we remain in him, we can accomplish much through his grace and love. How can you practice remaining in Christ daily? Will you allow him to transform your life so that it bears much fruit?
