“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”
john 14:27
John 14:27-31
Reflection
Jesus tells the disciples that he leaves his peace with them and that they shouldn’t be troubled or afraid. He tells them these things (about his death) so they believe when it happens. Jesus also declares that the ruler of this world is coming, and although he has no power over Jesus, the Lord does as his Father commands.
Jesus freely leaves and gives his peace to us. The peace of the Lord is a beautiful gift, one to be cherished. We can rest in his peace, even through the most difficult of times. When we accept Christ’s peace, we are able to endure any circumstance with that peace residing in our hearts.
This is not to say life becomes easier, but we can approach every situation and encounter differently, looking at it through the lens of Christ. Satan is the ruler of this world; Jesus acknowledges that. But with Christ’s peace, we are able to live securely in the Lord’s guidance and presence, not giving in to the lies of this world.

St. Bernardine of Siena: 1380 – 1444
“So when Paul’s voice was raised to preach the Gospel to the nations, like a great clap of thunder in the sky, his preaching was a blazing fire carrying all before it. It was the sun rising in fully glory.”
