Gospel Reflection – May 19, 2025

Jesus tells the disciples that anyone who keeps his commandments will be loved by the Father and himself. Whoever loves Jesus will keep his word and the Holy Trinity will dwell in him.

Jesus reminds us that loving him requires us to obey his commandments. We can’t simply say we love the Lord and then ignore his teachings. Many people today proclaim their belief in Christ, but don’t live accordingly. Are we like that? The Christian lifestyle is a must if we truly love God.

It is not always easy to follow Jesus’ commandments, even though we love him. Yet our relationship with him isn’t one-sided, and with a sincere heart and disposition, he will help us obey his words, which in turn increase our love.

The Holy Trinity wants to dwell in you – will you let that happen? Reflect on how you can live out your Christian calling and abide by Jesus’ teachings daily, slowly but surely growing in love with our Lord.
