Gospel Reflection – May 7, 2025

Jesus declares he is the bread of life. He says he came from heaven to do the will of his Father, and that he will not lose what the Father gave him or reject anyone who comes to him. He adds that everyone who sees the Son and believes may have eternal life and be raised on the last day.

It is comforting to know that Jesus will not reject anyone who comes to him. Even in all our brokenness and sin, if we turn and approach him, he will take us in his loving arms. Often, we might feel that we’re not worthy or too far gone to come back to Christ, or that he wouldn’t even want us to come back. But we are reminded that we will not be rejected, and in fact, can be raised on the last day with him if we remain true to our Catholic faith.

To help us, Jesus gives himself to us in the Eucharist. He offers his body to provide spiritual nourishment, love, peace, and so much more. He offers himself freely, encouraging us to approach and partake in his body, revealing true love and showing that you are not rejected, you are loved.

St. Rose Venerini: 1656 – 1728

“I feel so nailed to the Will of God that nothing else matters, neither death nor life. I want what He wants; I want to serve Him as much as pleases Him and no more”.
