And this is the verdict,
john 3:19
that the light came into the world,
but people preferred darkness to light,
because their works were evil.
John 3:16-21
Reflection
We are told that God loved the world so much he gave his Son so that anyone who believes in him will not perish. Those who do not believe are condemned and do their evil works in the darkness, while those who believe come into the light.
Do you prefer the darkness over the light? Hopefully the answer is no – you choose the light of Christ and truth over the darkness and lies of Satan. In this Gospel, we are reminded how important it is to believe and live out that belief, lest we be condemned.
Yet at times, we do choose darkness and sin for a variety of reasons. Whenever we do this, we must repent and turn back to Jesus. He is Truth and comes to bring us salvation, if only we follow him.
Reflect on how you can better live out truth in the light of Christ on a daily basis. Pray for the grace to always prefer the light to the darkness.
Saint of the Day
St. Pius V: 1504 – 1572
“Rarely indeed in a pope has the monarch so given place to the priest. One thing only he has at heart, the salvation of souls. This is what determines his entire policy; on this he bases every service and reckons the value of every institution and act.”
