“Amen, amen, I say to you,
john 3:5
unless one is born of water and Spirit
he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”
John 3:1-8
Reflection
Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night and says he knows Jesus is from God. Jesus tells him that unless someone is born anew of water and the Spirit, they cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus is confused, but Jesus proceeds to speak more about the Spirit.
Nicodemus goes to Jesus because he knows some sort of truth lies in him, yet is still confused by Jesus’ teachings of Baptism and the Holy Spirit working in people’s lives. We are like Nicodemus many times. We know Jesus is Truth and the Chruch helps us understand that, but we are still confused about various things.
It is okay to be confused. When we are, Jesus asks us to go to him and pray for an insight, an understanding, so that we can get to know him more fully. He is always calling us deeper – into relationship with him, the mystery of the Trinity, and many things beside.
Ask the Lord to help you see with the eyes of faith and to always desire to grow with him throughout your life.

“Love and sacrifice are closely linked, like the sun and the light. We cannot love without suffering, and we cannot suffer without love.”
