Gospel Reflection – April 16, 2025

Judas goes to the chief priests to ask how much money he’ll get if he delivers Jesus to them; they pay him 30 pieces of silver. The disciples and Jesus are preparing for the Passover and Jesus says one of them will betray him, and that it would be better if that man had not been born.

The disciples become sorrowful when Jesus speaks of his betrayer. We would also feel sorrowful if the Lord accused us of something like that. Yet every day we sin and offend Jesus, making him sorrowful. We may not be like Judas and commit such a ‘big’ sin, but our small and frequent sins still rupture our relationship with God.

We must take care to maintain an attitude of humility and repentance, not thinking we’re better than others because our sins aren’t as ‘bad.’ Only by the grace of God do we not commit mortal sins daily.

Pray for an increase in humility and an awareness of your sinfulness, returning to the Lord always.
