Gospel Reflection – April 12, 2025

The Pharisees and chief priests convene to decide how to deal with Jesus. They create a plan to kill him; therefore, Jesus doesn’t venture into the public anymore. As Passover nears, many Jews ask if Jesus will come to Jerusalem for the feast or remain hidden.

The Pharisees and others in power felt threatened by Jesus for a variety of reasons. They did not like how Jesus positively influenced other people’s lives and offered them something more than what the world offers. Contrary to the Pharisees and chief priests, we rejoice in Jesus and his influence in our lives.

The Lord offers us peace and love in a world that claims to offer such things, yet doesn’t. Let us not turn into the Pharisees and value worldly power, authority, and pleasure over the eternal gifts Christ offers us. He alone can fulfill us in the ways we truly need.

Pray for the grace to stay close to Jesus throughout your life, even when the world tempts you to abandon him.
