Gospel Reflection – April 10, 2025

Jesus is questioned for his bold statements about knowing the Father and declaring that he was before Abraham. The people do not believe this; they don’t believe Jesus was alive before Abraham or that he is greater than the prophets. They grab stones to throw at Jesus, but he hides himself instead.

Jesus once again declares that he is I AM. He is glorified by the Father and promises no spiritual death if we keep his word. These are bold statements to either believe or not believe. If we do, a beautiful eternity awaits. Many people choose to deny Christ and forego the promises he makes.

Why risk that when spiritual death is then a possibility? We know we will physically die one day, but retaining hope that we’ll be united with God in heaven is what can help keep our faith here on earth strong.

Are you committed to keeping Jesus’ words for your entire life? Ask for the grace to persevere in faith.
