“For if you do not believe that I AM,
john 8:24
you will die in your sins.”
John 8:21-30
Reflection
Jesus tells the people he is from above and not of this world. Unless they believe in him, they will die in their sin. Jesus does nothing on his own authority but through the Father. Because of his words, many people believed in Jesus.
In this passage, Jesus is essentially declaring that he is I AM – the name of God in the Old Testament. What a profound message to contemplate. If we believe in the Lord, believe who he says he is, he promises we won’t die in our sin.
God simply is. How can we testify to this in our daily lives? Proclaiming Christ’s truth to the world invites others to partake in the mystery of God. While there is much we don’t understand about God, listening to his words and simply believing in him bring us closer to our Lord and heaven.
Reflect on how you can sit in the Lord’s presence and let his love and truth permeate you. Ask for the grace to always believe and have faith in the great I AM.
