Gospel Reflection – April 1, 2025

Jesus cures a man who has been ill for 38 years. The man had lain near a healing pool, but could never reach it. Jesus tells him to pick up his pallet and walk, telling him later on to sin no more.

Jesus had asked the man: “Do you want to be healed?” He asks us this same question every day. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes no. Oftentimes we seek healing is the wrong places, through worldly pleasures. None of that can truly satisfy or heal us like Jesus can.

When we are in a spiritual place that requires healing but we refuse to let ourselves be healed, we must consider why this it. What are we holding back and how can we give it to the Lord so he can fully and lovingly heal that part?

Reflect on your relationship with Jesus’ healing. Do you always invite it or occasionally shun it? Do you want to be healed – the Lord wants to heal us if we let him.
