Jesus said to him,
john 4:48
“Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”
John 4:43-54
Reflection
Jesus arrives in Galilee where a royal official asks him to heal his dying son. Jesus tells the man his son will live, and upon returning home, discovers that his son will indeed survive. Because of this, the man’s household comes to believe in Jesus.
Jesus had told the man that those people (the official included) didn’t tend to believe unless they saw wonders and signs. We are like that too, desiring a physical sign from God, and not being content with his words.
Jesus’ words have power – he performed many miracles by a simple word. Today, his words still have power, healing and transforming us interiorly every day. Are we listening for his words, or looking for physical evidence of his presence?
Reflect on how you can begin to trust Jesus’ words better, rather than rely solely on sign and wonders. The Lord wants us to trust him in any way he chooses to present his power to us.
