Gospel Reflection – March 16, 2025

Peter, James, and John witness Jesus’ transfiguration. When they are covered in a cloud, they become afraid, yet they are told to listen to Jesus.

At various times in our lives, we become afraid – sometimes in a situation involving God, others not. We must always remember that the Lord is with us, even at frightening times. In those moments, it is crucial to listen to him, having faith and trust.

Even when we encounter the Lord in a profound way, we can still be afraid. Yet reflect on the words from the cloud at Jesus’ transfiguration: “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.” When we listen to him, we discover more about ourselves and God. His majesty and glory are revealed as we put our lives in his hands, even amid fear. Jesus is with you always.

Saint of the Day

St. Julian of Antioch: died ca. AD 305

St. Julian was raised by a Christian mother, and when Diocletian began persecuting Christians, was arrested for his faith. For an entire year, he was paraded around being tortured and interrogated. Finally, he was martyred when he was put in a sack filled with vipers and thrown into the sea.

St. Julian, pray for us!
