Gospel Reflection – March 10, 2025

Jesus relates how he will separate the sheep from the goats (blessed vs. cursed) when he comes again. The blessed committed acts of mercy towards the downtrodden, sick, imprisoned, naked, and hungry. On the contrary, the cursed did none of that and are condemned to hell.

Jesus tells us that whoever does one of these acts of mercy to fellow human beings does it to him as well. Do we pay attention to how we treat others? Do we ignore those who are worse off than ourselves in some manner? We are all beloved sons and daughters of God. God loves us with an infinite love. In our daily lives, let us take care to treat others with the same love and attitude as God would, even to those we deem ‘below’ us.

During Lent, we are called to perform acts of charity towards others. Perhaps you can volunteer at a local organization that helps the hungry or homeless. Ask the Lord how he is calling you to serve him, praying for the courage and strength to do so.
