“Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.
luke 5:31-32
I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”
Luke 5:27-32
Reflection
Jesus calls Levi (Matthew) the tax collector to follow him. After, Levi hosts a large banquet with Jesus and other ‘sinners.’ The Pharisees complain about this, but Jesus tells them that the sick need a physician, not the healthy.
Jesus comes to heal us daily. During Lent when we reflect on our sinfulness and cultivate an attitude of repentance, Jesus offers us his healing grace. He desires to rid us of our sin and draw us near to himself.
Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners, being rebuked for doing so. But we are all sinners and need God’s grace. If we are quick to judge others for their sinfulness, use this Lent to reflect interiorly and ask the Lord for his healing touch.
