Gospel Reflection – February 9, 2025

Jesus is teaching the crowds and uses Simon Peter’s boat to speak from. Afterwards, he tells Simon to lower his nets to catch fish, even though they haven’t caught any fish all night. Yet they catch many, and Simon, James, and John follow Jesus, who tells them they will now be fishers of men.

When we are like Simon Peter, having done our best to reach an outcome and not succeeded, we can become discouraged. This is when Jesus tells us to cast our nets again, and he abundantly provides for us. Do not give up hope. There is always another way – Jesus’ way – for things to be accomplished.

Let the Lord guide you in all things, especially when you think your goal can’t be achieved. Pray for an increase in trust and the will to follow Jesus always.
