“Little girl, I say to you, arise!”
mark 5:41
Mark 5:1-20
Reflection
A man named Jairus approaches Jesus and asks that he heal his daughter who is dying. As they make their way to Jairus’ house, a woman with hemorrhages touches Jesus’ clothes and is healed. When they reach the house, the little is supposedly dead, but Jesus approaches her and bid her rise, and she is alive and well.
This Gospel is rich in meaning for both the little girl and the woman with hemorrhages. The faith shown by Jairus and the woman are inspiring. They believed that Jesus could do the impossible for them, and so it was done. Do we have such faith? Even if we don’t get immediate results in our prayer, trust that the Lord hears you and will answer at an appropriate time, one that is perfect for you.
Sometimes our faith is weak, and that is when Jesus says to us, “Arise.” Arise out of your sin, anxiety, and worldly pursuits. Follow the Lord. Allow him to take your hand and lead you to true joy and fulfillment. Pray for an increase in faith today.
