He woke up,
mark 4:39
rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!”
Mark 4:35-41
Reflection
After teaching many parables, Jesus wants to cross to the other side of the sea, so with his disciples, he sets out on a boat. A storm arises and the boat fills with water, but Jesus sleeps through it. The disciples are terrified and wake Jesus. He instantly calms the storm and asks why they are so afraid and have no faith.
When we are experiencing our own personal storms in life, Jesus is right there, calmly next to us. Many times, we turn to him and shout, begging for help, just like the disciples. Yet we should take care to stay calm and have faith that Jesus will get us through. He will always calm the storm, if not in the way we expect.
Following Jesus and listening to his word requires great faith. When our lack of trust is evident and we attempt to take things into our own hands, Jesus asks us: “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” He will provide, but in the meantime, stay beside him and let him guide you through the storm in his perfect way.
Pray for an increase in faith of the Lord. Ask for the grace to remain faithful to him in difficult times and trust in his goodness.

“I would wish a great lake of ale for the King of Kings; I would wish the family of heaven to be drinking it throughout life and time. I would wish the men of Heaven in my own house; I would wish vessels of peace to be given to them….”
