His mother said to the servers,
john 2:5
“Do whatever he tells you.”
John 2:1-11
Reflection
Today’s Gospel is the wedding feast at Cana, where Jesus performs his first public miracle. When the wine at the wedding runs out, Jesus transforms water into wine.
In the passage, Mary tells the servers to do whatever Jesus tells them. They listen and are rewarded by the miraculous wine. Mary says the same thing to us today – do whatever he tells you. She knows that when we listen to Jesus, good things will happen.
Mary always leads us to her son. As our mother, she guides us down the path of holiness and love – to Jesus! She desires that everyone come to know her son and follow his perfect ways.
Reflect on how well you follow Jesus at times. Do you ever listen to Mary’s promptings? Ask for an open heart and greater trust in following Mary to Jesus.
Saint of the Day
St. Henry of Sweden: 12th century
St. Henry was an Englishman who eventually became bishop in Uppsala. He and the Swedish king got along well and once Finland was conquered, worked together to evangelize and spread the Christian faith. He was killed by a Christian soldier, and after his death, many miracles were reported at his tomb.
St. Henry, pray for us!
