Gospel Reflection – December 11, 2024

Jesus beautifully and gently tells the people that he will give them rest. He implores them to take his yoke upon themselves, for it is easy and the burden light.

Jesus says the same words to us every day, encouraging us who are overburdened to come to him and find rest. Too often, we find ourselves overworked, overwhelmed, busy, and tired, not taking time to rest. We struggle to rest not only physically and mentally, but spiritually as well.

This Advent, really listen to Jesus’ reassuring words: “I will give you rest.” Slow down and turn to him in prayer, finding peace, joy, and rest in his presence. When you feel that the pressures of the world are too much, remember that you only need to follow Jesus and his teaching. When you do so, he provides the necessary strength.

Take time to properly rest in the Lord this week. Lay your burdens at his feet and simply be with him, our loving friend and Savior.
