Gospel Reflection – December 10, 2024

Jesus tells the disciples a parable about the one lost sheep that a man goes looking for. Once he finds it, he rejoices over the one sheep more than the ninety-nine he left behind. Jesus tells them that in the same way, God does not want to lose any one of us.

How beautiful is that – God does not desire to lose us, and he will do anything to bring us back to him. Yet we must go willingly, for he doesn’t force us to do anything against our will. When we have fallen astray for whatever reason, Jesus comes to us and offers the opportunity to come back. When we say yes, he gently and lovingly guides us back.

Reflect on how you have strayed from Jesus at times and how he has led you back to him. This Advent, let Jesus guide you closer to his heart and reveal the full beauty, mystery, and joy of Christmas.
