“Do you believe that I can do this?”
matthew 9:28-29
“Yes, Lord,” they said to him.
Then he touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
Matthew 9:27-31
Reflection
Jesus heals two blind men who cry out to him. He asks if they believe he can heal them, and both respond in the positive.
How many times do we want to be healed of something – physically, mentally, spiritually – yet fail to believe Jesus can do it? He asks each of us: “Do you believe that I can do this?” It requires faith and trust to say yes.
Jesus always presents an open invitation to trust in him. We are the ones who have the choice to accept or refuse him. He wants us to place our utmost trust and faith in him.
Ask you struggling to believe and trust in the Lord’s promises? If you are, ask for an outpouring of faith, trust, and love in Jesus. He wants to heal you – he knows he can do it, and he wants you to believe in that, too.
Saint of the Day
St. Nicholas
St. Nicholas was a bishop of Myra during the fourth century. While not much is known about him, a popular legend today survives: giving gifts on his feast day! Supposedly, St. Nicholas secretly provided gold to a fellow citizen so his three daughters could be wed, even though they were poor. Traditions of this story have passed down to today in the form we know it.
St. Nicholas, pray for us!
