Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
luke 18:40-41
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Luke 18:35-43
Reflection
On his way to Jericho, Jesus passes a blind man who cries out to him. Jesus asks the man what he (the blind man) wants Jesus to do for him. The man replies that he wants to see. Jesus restores his sight, and the man follows Jesus afterwards.
That simple question, “What do you want me to do for you?” is something Jesus asks all of us when we call out to him. Of course, he knows what we need, but our relationship with him isn’t one-sided – we must respond. The even more simple answer to his question is: “Lord, please let me see.”
What do you need your eyes opened up to? It might not be physically, but there are many things we’re blind to spiritually – Jesus’ love for us, our failings and sinfulness, even some of our virtues and gifts. When we look at the world and ourselves through a me-centered lens, rather than a Christ-centered one, we find we are unable to truly see many things for what they are.
Approach Jesus today and ask him to see, to have new sight. He wants to help you and make you more holy. Asking for renewed, Christ-centered vision isn’t a bad way to start.

“He will never let the trial surpass the strength He gives you, and at the very moment you think yourself overwhelmed by sorrow, He will lift you up and give you peace.”
