“Heaven and earth will pass away,
mark 13:31
but my words will not pass away.”
Mark 13:24-32
Reflection
Jesus speaks once again of the coming of the Son of Man. The angels will gather the elect, and Jesus says that while heaven and earth will pass away, his words will not.
This Gospel speaks of the need to be constantly vigilant. We don’t know when Jesus will come again or when we ourselves will die. Only the Father knows when these will occur. In the meantime, we must focus on Christ and following him.
The one constant in our lives is the Word of God – Scripture and Jesus. Even when everything else around us changes, we can cling to him and trust in his plan for us. That is why it is essential to develop a strong and loving relationship with Jesus now, because we might not be able to at a later time.
Focus on Jesus’ gentle voice calling you in your life. Ask him for help to center your life on him, especially for the gift of perseverance. Let’s make the most of our time on earth with the Lord now.
