Jesus said to his disciples,
luke 17:1
“Things that cause sin will inevitably occur,
but woe to the one through whom they occur.”
Luke 17:1-6
Reflection
Jesus speaks about avoiding sin and forgiving others who sin against you. He tells the disciples that while temptations to sin will occur, you must strive to not sin in such circumstances.
How often do we experience situations that tempt us to sin or are good chances to forgive people who have sinned against us? Both are common enough occurrences – how do we act in each? It is easy to fall into sin, but we must always strive to take the higher road and follow the voice of Jesus in such situations, not that of Satan.
Likewise, when someone sins against us, we must always forgive them, for we could easily have been in the same situation as them, if not for grace. Have mercy on your fellow man, just like Christ does. Even though Jesus’ teachings are not always the easiest to follow, they are always the right way.
If you are struggling with the temptation to certain sins or are having difficulty forgiving a particular individual, ask Jesus for the grace necessary to overcome those challenges. He desires for us to be in union with himself and others.
