“Into whatever house you enter,
Luke 10:5-6
first say, ‘Peace to this household.’
If a peaceful person lives there,
your peace will rest on him.”
Luke 10:1-9
Reflection
Leaving your peace with someone is a beautiful thought. Jesus tells the seventy-two disciples to give their peace to households they encounter on their mission, and if peaceful people live there, the peace will remain and rest on them. Really, this is the peace of Christ that rests on them.
We all desire the peace of Jesus to reside in our hearts, especially during times of tumult. Sometimes we push away the peace Jesus offers us, thinking we can manage on our own. Yet it is at the most difficult times that we need Jesus and his healing peace. We can also encounter people who provide us with the peace of Christ as well – a priest, spouse, close friend, spiritual director.
Reflect on how Jesus brings and gives you his peace, comfort, and love. Is it through another person, the Eucharist, everyday living? Are you a person who helps bring Christ’s peace to others? Ask Jesus for his peace today to calm any worries and troubles, to let him be in control. Jesus desires you to have peace in your life; let him give it to you.
